STEM Preparatory Academy is seeking a Certified Middle Grades Social Studies Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time, in-person, 10-month position located in Nashville, Tennessee. The school is a public charter school serving middle and high school students from diverse backgrounds, with a mission to create an inclusive environment where every student can learn, lead, and thrive. Responsibilities

  • Teach 3 of 4 classes daily on an alternating A/B 90-minute block schedule, primarily responsible for one content area (e.g., 8th grade math).
  • Engage in Unit Internalization Prep using school-adopted curricula (Novel, Savvas enVision, Elevate) and submit weekly lesson plan arcs with teacher exemplars.
  • Collaboratively plan during a daily planning block, including co-planning with co-teachers, weekly coaching for feedback, and biweekly PLC meetings analyzing data in content departments.
  • Track and analyze academic and behavioral data using school-wide systems; maintain timely and accurate grade submissions to keep students and families informed.
  • Facilitate 1 Personalized Learning Time intervention class in either ELA or Math, supported by programs such as Lexia or Aleks.
  • Utilize instructional technology and school systems consistently to support student learning and progress monitoring.
  • Implement ELL accommodations across all content areas.
  • Maintain an 8:00 am to 4:00 pm workday, including assigned morning arrival and afternoon dismissal duties.
  • Participate in Staff Huddles at the start and end of each week (Monday and Friday mornings).
  • Serve lunch duty once weekly on a rotating basis within grade-level teams.
  • Attend weekly grade-level team meetings held before the school day begins.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including 3 weeks of summer faculty training and biweekly after-school PL sessions on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays.
  • Contribute to a portion of monthly family engagement nights throughout the year.
  • Supervise student activities during the school day such as weekly Walk & Talk, quarterly Club Days, and field trips.
  • Uphold and model the school’s values, student management policies, and culture systems consistently.
  • Maintain classroom management of Tier 1 behaviors and follow the consequence matrix for progressive discipline.
  • Deliver Morning Mindfulness lessons in homeroom aligned to SEL state standards.
  • Participate in weekly Grade Level Community Meetings recognizing scholars who exemplify school values: integrity, imagination, drive, collaboration, and inquiry.
  • Track and input student behavior data in Kickboard for communication with families, school leaders, and the culture team.
