About The Position

Gaudenzia is a large nonprofit provider of treatment for substance use and co-occurring disorders, operating in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. The organization is seeking passionate and empathic individuals to join their mission-driven team. The Certified Medication Technician will work under the direction of a licensed nurse, assisting with initial nursing intakes, gathering demographic data, and ensuring referral documents are present. This role involves scheduling appointments with outside providers, completing internal paperwork, and monitoring routine health metrics like vital signs and weights. A key responsibility is monitoring the self-administration of medications, recording this activity, and reporting any deviations. The technician will also assist nursing staff with supply inventory, assembling medical charts, maintaining logs, and communicating clinical observations. Additionally, they will perform regular audits of medical records for regulatory compliance. All work is performed under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel and must adhere to established regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Active CMT certification required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years supervised experience in a health care setting, working as a Certified Medical Technician preferred.
  • Knowledge of health care practices such as monitoring vital signs, and physical health indicators.
  • Knowledge of safe infection control practices.
  • Knowledge of correct record keeping according to agency and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ability to work with clients to gain confidence and cooperation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, outside health care providers and agencies, institutions and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with nursing and program staff to provide competent and appropriate health care to clients.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine vital sign and weight assessments on clients and document according to protocol.
  • Under direction, conduct initial intake interviews on new admissions, collecting information such as demographic data, reported medical and mental health information, and presence of referring documents and/or medication.
  • Communicate all information obtained to licensed nursing personnel.
  • Provide supervision to clients who self-administer medications, including documentation in the medication logs.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, reordering as needed.
  • Maintain medical/health related forms, assembling new charts and providing a supply of prepared forms as needed.
  • Audit medical records monthly.
  • Assist in scheduling all appointments with health care providers, and complete associated paperwork, such as trip logs, referral forms, etc.
  • Triage client health complaints/requests, communicating with nursing personnel.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification, and provide when needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the supervisor, Director of Health Services or Program Director, and/or as identified in the Unit Unique Job Description.
