The long term care (LTC) Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) serves as caregiver who provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. This role involves administering prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and within their scope of practice as defined by state regulations. The CMA will document resident care outcomes, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary information. They will also communicate changes in resident condition and care concerns to the charge nurse, collect specimens, gather vital signs, and provide housekeeping and laundry services. Additionally, the CMA will assist with and document participation in wellness and recreational programs.
