About The Position

The Medication Assistant administers medications to residents in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations. The role ensures medications are dispensed accurately, safely, and in a timely manner. The Medication Assistant works under the supervision of a licensed nurse and communicates with residents, family members, and healthcare professionals as needed.

Requirements

• Current Medication Aide Certification in the state of practice.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications to residents as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
• Ensure medications are dispensed accurately, safely, and in a timely manner.
• Monitor residents for adverse reactions or medication side effects and report them to the licensed nurse as needed.
• Document medication administration and resident responses in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Order and receive medications as directed by the licensed nurse.
• Assist with medication inventory management and reordering.
• Communicate with residents, family members, and healthcare professionals about medication administration and changes to medication regimens.
• Provide general support to the nursing staff as needed.
