The Certified Medication Aide will prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications per protocol. Essential Functions include administering prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations in accordance with company policy and procedure. The role involves observing and reporting reactions and side-effects of medication to the charge nurse, taking and recording vital signs before medication administration, and documenting reasons for not administering prescribed drugs. The medication aide is responsible for preparing and administering regularly prescribed medications they are trained to administer, documenting administered medications, and administering oxygen in emergencies. They will also apply specifically ordered ophthalmic, otic, nasal, and vaginal medications, follow principles of good medication administration, and assist with daily care requirements such as bathing, feeding, dressing, and moving residents. Additionally, the role includes helping charge nurses with the cleanliness of the nursing station, medication room, and supply room.
