About The Position

The Certified Medication Aide (MA-C) administers medication under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel. The role requires working within the applicable State Board of Nursing scope of practice, following HCF policies and procedures, and supporting resident care through accurate medication administration and documentation. The aide follows resident care plans, communicates effectively with residents, staff, and visitors, and reports significant changes, abnormal findings, incidents, suspected abuse or neglect, and unsafe conditions. The position also requires participation in in-service education and adherence to infection-control and safety practices.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current certification from a State Board of Nursing-approved training center.

Responsibilities

Function within the scope of practice according to the State Board of Nursing.
Administer medication as prescribed by a physician.
Follow HCF policies and procedures.
Meet job-related competencies outlined in the Skills Competency Manual.
Accurately document medications given.
Refer to and follow resident care plans.
Report abnormal findings, including health issues, injuries, incidents, skin issues, complaints, suspected abuse, neglect or misappropriation, unsafe conditions, and significant changes in condition.
Attend required in-service education.
Follow appropriate infection-control and safety practices.
Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and visitors.
Assume responsibility for their own professional competence.
Perform other duties as assigned.
