About The Position

The Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center is a 156-bed long-term care facility located in beautiful Hanson, Kentucky that is committed to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity and providing compassionate care. We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic Medication Aide, who possesses the skills and desires to care for Kentucky’s Veterans. The ideal candidate will work within a team-centered environment. We offer flexible scheduling and holiday, weekend and shift premiums. The ideal candidate will work within a team-centered environment to meet our commitment to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care. This position, in Hopkins county has an approved Locality Premium of $10.09 in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(1).

Requirements

• Must possess current registration with the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry as administered by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health Services and Kentucky Board of Nursing.
• Must possess current certification as a Certified Medication Aide I as administered by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health Services and Kentucky Board of Nursing.
• Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, administers and charts medications and treatments.
• Performs medical treatments under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Takes temperatures, pulses and respiration and records on patient’s chart.
• Participates in treatment team meetings.
• Provides first aide for minor injuries.
