The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) will be responsible for providing medication administration to residents under the direction of an RN. This includes assisting with personal hygiene, serving meals, feeding patients, ambulating, turning, and positioning patients, and providing fresh water and nourishment. The CMA will also administer adjunct care such as enemas, douches, non-sterile dressings, and therapeutic baths. They will maintain patient stability by checking vital signs and weight, testing urine, and recording intake and output. The role involves maintaining patient comfort by responding to call lights and requests, reporting observations to the nursing supervisor, and documenting actions. The CMA will also maintain work operations by following policies and procedures, serving and protecting the community by adhering to standards, and updating job knowledge through educational opportunities and maintaining licensure. Enhancing the department and hospital reputation by accepting ownership and exploring opportunities to add value is also part of the role.
