Requirements
- Holds a current Texas Medication Aide certification
- Has experience and competence in medication administration procedures
- Communicates clearly and demonstrates patience, discipline, and professionalism
- Pays close attention to detail and ensures accurate documentation
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed PO, topical (unbroken skin), and rectal medications per physician’s orders and company policy
- Watch for and report any adverse medication reactions or changes in resident status
- Record all medication administration in compliance with policies
- Maintain control of the medication cart and ensure a safe, hazard-free environment
- Safeguard the confidentiality of resident information
- Follow all infection control procedures during medication administration
- Immediately report any medication errors to the Charge Nurse
