About The Position

The Certified Medical Coder is responsible for verifying the accuracy of patient insurance information and entering daily charges using appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes. This role requires attention to detail, timeliness, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The position also involves adhering to OSHA and HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Medical Coding Certification
  • Good communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Strong ethical and moral character references
  • Pass security check
  • Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians
  • Ability to make logical decisions and solve problems
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding applications

Responsibilities

  • Verify accuracy of patient’s insurance company name/address
  • Enter daily charges using appropriate CPT code and ICD-10 code for various services including Office Charges, CIG Professional Charges, SCECWC Facility Charges, SCECNE Facility Charges, Anesthesia Charges, Pathology Charges, Hospital Charges and Lab Charges
  • Append appropriate modifiers as indicated
  • Run Daily Report for Balancing at end of day
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers
  • Interact with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
  • Conduct self as a positive role model and team member
  • Respect patients’ rights to privacy, dignity and confidentiality
  • Abide by OSHA and HIPAA regulations
