About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking experienced and detail-oriented Certified Medical Coders with strong Outpatient and Emergency Department (ED) coding experience for a short-term contract opportunity. This role begins with onsite training in Bronx, NY, followed by a remote work arrangement once responsibilities are fully mastered. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of acute care coding practices, strong proficiency in coding systems and applications, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of medical coding experience in an acute care environment
  • Strong Outpatient and Emergency Department coding experience required
  • Proficiency with: ICD-10, CPT-4, Encoder systems, Microsoft Word & Excel, EPIC EMR, 3M/HDS coding applications
  • Solid understanding of: Anatomy, physiology, and disease processes, Federal billing and payer guidelines, Coding compliance standards
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision after training
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One of the following certifications required: CCS, CCP, RHIA, RHIT
  • Certifications must be issued through AHIMA

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate medical coding for Outpatient and Emergency Department encounters in an acute care setting
  • Assign ICD-10, CPT-4, and related diagnostic/procedural codes in compliance with coding and billing regulations
  • Review clinical documentation for coding accuracy and completeness
  • Ensure compliance with federal billing regulations, payer guidelines, and coding standards
  • Utilize EPIC and 3M/HDS coding applications effectively
  • Research and resolve coding-related issues as needed
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards while working independently
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support coding accuracy and reimbursement processes
