About The Position

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients at Duke Womens Health Heritage in Wake Forest, NC. Duke Health Integrated Practice comprises more than 110 primary and specialty outpatient clinics, extending the reach of the Duke Health mission across the state of North Carolina.

Requirements

  • Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
  • High school or GED graduation required.
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
  • BLS required

Responsibilities

  • Take medical histories and record vital signs, charge posting, order entry.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; perform bladder scans, void trials, catherizations; Document and communicate pertinent information.
  • Assist the physician during the examination and procedures.
  • Collect/prepare laboratory and blood specimens; perform Point of Care laboratory tests.
  • Sterilize medical instruments using High Level Disinfection and Autoclave as appropriate.
  • Review medical and surgical instructions with patients and/or caregivers, and document in patient record.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
  • Daily clinic preparation process – QC and safety checks.
  • Monitor and/or order clinic supplies, fill out insurance and FMLA forms.
  • Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician.
