Works under general supervision of the clinic physicians, supported by the clinic nursing supervisor, clinic manager, clinic mid-levels, and RN, in a controlled outpatient care area and performs a variety of duties. This position is represented by RCHEA. The Certified Medical Assistant will assist practitioners and RNs with basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services and procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist, or their designee. This role also involves cross-training for front office functions and filling in as needed. The position requires maintaining competencies, license, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies. The role also necessitates maintaining confidentiality of staff, patient, and administrative information and keeping lab and treatment rooms orderly. The Certified Medical Assistant must perform waived lab tests and internal quality controls, prepare samples for shipment to the hospital lab, and prepare patients for provider exams by collecting baseline information and recording it in the patient chart. Taking patient vital signs, height, and weight measurements and recording these results in the patient chart are also key duties. The role may also involve performing other duties and innovations as assigned.
