The Certified Medical Assistant will be responsible for demonstrating professional conduct and ethical practice in the clinical setting. This role involves using and interpreting both verbal and non-verbal communication with patients and their families, performing initial clinical assessments, and assisting physicians/practitioners with treatments and procedures. The Medical Assistant will also provide patient education related to diagnoses, tests, and medications, maintain and perform proficiency testing on clinical equipment, and ensure safety consciousness in the clinical setting. Responsibilities include establishing good rapport with patients and their families, complying with infection control principles and sterile procedures, and utilizing good body mechanics. Accurate and legible documentation in the electronic medical record is essential, as is effective and timely communication with coworkers and other clinic personnel. The Medical Assistant must assume responsibility for maintaining licensure and current knowledge of patient care, procedures, and treatments applicable to the clinic and its patient population. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to multi-task. Employees are expected to be available to cover practices across Beaufort and Hampton Counties as needed.
