About The Position
Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join their team. This role involves supporting providers in delivering high-quality, compassionate healthcare. The Medical Assistant will perform general MA duties, including rooming patients, recording vital signs, updating medications, and verifying allergies. They will work alongside Providers and RNs to assist with procedures, maintain accurate EHR records, and support various clinic areas and locations. The position emphasizes patient education, assisting with procedures like casting and suture removal, maintaining sterile environments, and ordering tests as directed by providers.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Responsibilities
- Room patients
- Record vital signs
- Enter/update medications
- Verify allergies and list reactions
- Assist Providers and RNs with procedures
- Keep accurate records in EHR
- Work in all clinic areas and locations as assigned
- Educate pre/post-operative patients per Provider's instructions
- Draw and prepare injections, label as indicated and record in EHR
- Assist all Providers with procedures such as casting/splints and removal of sutures/staples
- Open and prep exam rooms, stock as indicated
- Clean exam rooms and autoclave instruments between patients
- Complete medical history and update surgical information accurately on all post-operative patients
- Prep charts the day before or morning of surgery, including gathering ER notes, op-notes, office notes from other providers, review present chart to assess types of documents needed for the day, what x-rays are indicated, and read the provider’s previous notes for directions
- Perform sterile dressing changes
- Refill medications per provider protocols
- Direct questions to the specific provider
- Order tests – X-rays, CT, US, MRI, lab draws per provider’s request
