About The Position

This role is an integral part of the team, working closely with the cardiologist to provide expert cardiac care. The Certified Medical Assistant will escort patients to rooms, assist in determining medical problems, obtain pertinent medical records, and prepare patients for examination and treatment. Responsibilities include taking patient histories and vital signs, preparing exam rooms and instruments, stocking supplies, and responding to telephone calls. The assistant will also instruct patients and families on medications, test results, and treatment instructions as provided by the physician, assist in the referral process, and maintain patient confidentiality. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved medical office assistant program.
  • Certification as a MOA from the American Association of Medical Assistants required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • Minimum of two to three years relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.
  • Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications.
  • Skills in taking vital signs.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively with physicians, patients and co-workers.
  • Must be flexible and a quick learner.
  • Ability to multi-task and float to any position.
  • Demonstrates the ability to navigate several computer applications.
  • Ability to operate all technical office equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and confidentiality in dealing with others, in person, electronically and on the telephone.
  • Able to perform work accurately and within rigid time frames.

Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
