About The Position
Western NC Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) committed to caring for patients with purpose and integrity and providing team members with the support they need. They are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) PRN on an as-needed basis for their medical clinics. The clinics are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 6 pm. WNCCHS will offer the CMA-PRN pre-scheduled, same-day, and current-week assignments. They offer 8 or 10-hour shifts.
Requirements
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant - required
- OR, 3 to 5 years as medical assistant in an outpatient health care setting
- Extensive phlebotomy experience
- Experience using Electronic Health Records systems
Nice To Haves
- Postsecondary technical course(s) helpful, but not required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Russian
- Experience in public health
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical duties under the direction of a physician, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse
- Perform phlebotomy, and process specimens for patients of all ages
- Set up medical examination rooms, prepare and administer medications and vaccines
- Obtain vital signs and patient information
- Obtain EKG’s, assist with wound care and minor surgical procedures e.g., removal of benign cyst
- Assist in administrative duties as needed, including handling calls
