About The Position

Under supervision of the Center Manager, this role involves independently performing office responsibilities related to patient reception, registration, and checkout. Additionally, under the supervision of a physician/nurse practitioner or physician assistant, the Certified Medical Assistant provides quality nursing care for assigned patients. The position requires a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills, contributing to the organization's mission, philosophy, and effective operations through dependable job performance. Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Consistently greet patients and visitors upon arrival in a positive and professional manner.
  • Accurately collect demographic and insurance information and enter patient information in the practice management system.
  • Schedule appointments in accordance with established protocol.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls according to procedure, direct calls as appropriate, and/or correctly document required information and present to the responsible person.
  • Prepare medical charts and required paperwork as directed.
  • Collect and post patient payments, balance cash drawer, and prepare daily deposits.
  • Select accurate diagnosis codes for billing and post charges in the practice management system.
  • Maintain work area and reception area in a neat, orderly manner.
  • Order necessary supplies for front office and patient care.
  • Complete assignments as directed by providers/nurse.
  • Assist in collecting data regarding patient care medical record information.
  • Participate in patient/family education.
  • Prepare exam rooms with necessary supplies for delivery of patient care.
  • Assist with the scheduling of tests, treatments and/or referrals of patients.
  • Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, treatments and administration of medication as directed by providers.
  • Keep daily/monthly records according to EMH, State, and JCAHO regulations.
  • Participate in staff meetings, committees, and teams that facilitate communication, education, and performance improvement.
  • Attend continuing education programs to maintain current knowledge and skills.
  • Administer medications (oral and parenteral) as directed by providers.
  • Provide a comfortable and safe environment for patients.
  • Discuss reports with provider each day and call patients to give results and instructions.
  • Incorporate core concepts of patient/family-centered care into practice, considering age of patient served, applying knowledge of growth and development and age-specific techniques through the life span in planning and implementing care.
  • Prepare and maintain Nursing/Front Office schedule to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Be available for call-in each day.
