In accordance with the Medical Board of California, works under general supervision of the clinic physicians supported by the clinic nursing supervisor, clinic manager, clinic mid-levels and RN, in a controlled outpatient care area and performs a variety of duties. This position is represented by RCHEA. The Medical Assistant (Outpatient) assists practitioners and RNs with basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services and procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist, or their designee. This role involves cross-training for front office functions and filling in as needed. The position requires maintaining and meeting expectations for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies. Maintaining confidentiality of staff, patient, and administrative information is crucial. The role also includes maintaining lab and treatment rooms in an orderly manner, observing all clinic protocols and procedures, performing waived lab tests and internal quality controls, and preparing samples for shipment to the hospital lab. Additionally, the Medical Assistant prepares patients for provider exams, collects baseline information, records it in the patient chart, takes patient vital signs, height, and weight measurements, and records these results in the patient chart. The position also involves willingly performing other duties and innovations as assigned.
