The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician. This role requires adherence to licensure, certification, and registration requirements for hire and continued employment, including current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association and AHA BLS HCP Certification. Experience requirements vary based on graduation from a medical assistant program. The position also requires previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, and demonstrated experience utilizing strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills. Independent actions are required under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager, and/or RN, with prior approval needed for time/schedule changes, legal issues, directed care deviating from standard, and identifying educational resources. Job duties may involve handling, transportation, access to, and/or contact with medications and related supplies. Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays, with schedules subject to adjustment as necessary to meet clinic requirements. The role serves all age-specific groups and involves physical demands such as lifting 20-50 lbs, prolonged standing/sitting, frequent bending, walking, climbing, and repetitive reaching. Mental/sensory requirements include strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, and logical thinking. The environment is fast-paced, requiring the ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to frequent change.
