About The Position

Functions as a supporting member of the Respiratory Therapy team by performing various tasks which include outpatient testing, clerical work, and assistance with patient scheduling. Assumes responsibility within the scope of CMA duties and accountability for the delivery of evidenced based care at WHC under the supervision of appropriate staff member.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Must be currently certified as a Medical Assistant.
  • Previous experience in clinic workflows, acute-care facility preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in clinic workflows, acute-care facility preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing all necessary documentation for outpatient diagnostic testing, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizations and regulatory requirements.
  • Support respiratory therapy staff in the setup and application of outpatient monitoring devices, including but not limited to home sleep testing equipment and cardiac monitors, while ensuring patient comfort and proper device usage.
  • Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) in accordance with provider orders, adhering to established clinical protocols and maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
  • Safely transport patients to and from various departments within the facility for scheduled tests, procedures, or appointments, ensuring timely arrival and effective communication with clinical staff.
  • Assist with post-testing follow-up processes, including documentation, coordination of next steps, and completion of required paperwork to support continuity of care.
  • Accurately scan and upload patient documents into the electronic medical record (EMR), ensuring proper indexing and placement for easy retrieval and compliance with documentation standards.
  • Manage incoming telephone communications by answering calls promptly, directing inquiries appropriately, and relaying information clearly, professionally, and courteously.
  • Monitor and maintain departmental supply levels by assisting with inventory management, ordering supplies as needed, and ensuring completions of departmental supply outdates.
