University Radiology is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team at our East Brunswick, NJ office. The role involves managing patient care, coordinating with various medical disciplines, and handling administrative tasks related to scheduling and insurance. Due to the nature of the complicated diagnoses, patients are frequently considered TBI (Traumatic Brain-Injured) and experience PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). The Neurointerventional navigator must be extremely sensitive to patient needs and may assist to refer to psych/Brain Aneurysm/AVM support groups at the recommendation of the Neurointerventional radiologist. This position requires excellent understanding of insurance company requirements and pre-certification processes, as well as the ability to schedule procedures efficiently and manage a significant number of consults and follow-ups weekly. The role also involves facilitating telemedicine visits, booking complex cases, and maintaining professional relationships with referring physicians and hospital staff. The CMA will assist technologists or radiologists with procedures, obtain necessary clinical information, explain procedures to patients, and manage dual antiplatelet therapy (Plavix/ASA) initiation, monitoring, and adjustment. Continuous monitoring of medications and lab values is crucial, with the ability to assess and report non-responders to the Chief Administrative RN and/or Neurointerventional radiologist.
