Under the direction of the health care provider, the Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and well-being of all patients. This includes accurately performing preliminary physical tests such as measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse, and respiration, and other measures as directed by established clinical protocols. The role involves general patient care, preparing patients for providers, obtaining vital signs, administering medications and vaccines, and potentially drawing blood samples and performing routine tests like EKGs. The Medical Assistant also handles scheduling diagnostic testing, documenting patient care plans and results, communicating with patients about test results, and maintaining a clean and stocked clinical environment. Additionally, the position requires escalating non-routine issues, ensuring safety checklists are completed, and protecting patient privacy. There is also a possibility of working in the front office and performing other duties as assigned by the practice manager or healthcare provider.
