This role involves accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms, assisting them with various needs such as walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, and preparing for exams. The position requires collecting and documenting patient history, performing screenings according to provider guidelines, and assisting physicians with procedures. Responsibilities include sterilization, instrument wrapping, autoclaving, checking vital signs, prescription verifications, minor surgery assistance (including tray setup, pre/post-surgical care, dressing application, and suture removal), biohazard waste disposal and monitoring, and administering therapeutic modalities. The role also involves instructing patients on assistive devices, body mechanics, and home care, performing laboratory procedures, adhering to quality control methods, conducting capillary punctures and venipuncture, specimen handling, and emergency triage. The Certified Medical Assistant will effectively utilize the electronic medical records system for scheduling, prior authorizations, and patient flow management, demonstrating strong time management, accurate charting, and clear communication of instructions to patients and families. They will also answer calls and provide pertinent information.
