About The Position

In accordance with the Medical Board of California, this position works under the general supervision of clinic physicians, supported by the clinic nursing supervisor, clinic manager, clinic mid-levels, and RN. The role is performed in a controlled outpatient care area and involves a variety of duties. This position is represented by RCHEA. The Certified Medical Assistant will assist practitioners and RNs with basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services and procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist, or their designee. The role involves cross-training for front office functions and filling in as needed. The Certified Medical Assistant must maintain and meet expectations on time for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies. The position requires maintaining confidentiality of staff, patient, and administrative information in the Clinic, hospital, and community setting. The Certified Medical Assistant will maintain lab and treatment rooms in an orderly manner, perform waived lab tests and internal QCs, and prepare samples for shipment to the hospital lab. Responsibilities include preparing patients for provider exams, collecting baseline information, recording it in the patient chart, and taking patient vital signs, height, and weight measurements, recording these results in the patient chart. The role also involves willingly performing other duties and innovations as assigned. The Certified Medical Assistant serves patients across all age groups: Infant, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric, demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care and service. This includes the ability to assess data reflective of the patients' status and interpret it relative to age-specific needs.

Requirements

  • Current CPR Certification.
  • National Medical Assistant certification required.
  • High School graduate or GED preferred.
  • Clinic-medical office experience preferred.
  • Basic medical terminology preferred.
  • Must be a National Certified Medical Assistant and must maintain certificate and complete all required CEUs.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
