Certified Medical Assistant - Specialty OBGYN
About The Position
The Certified Medical Assistant supports patient care by performing related services, including accurate patient registration, insurance verification, and data entry. The role requires good judgment, effective communication with patients, families, licensed personnel, insurance companies, and third-party payers, and a professional, caring manner. The Medical Assistant assists physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care; enters charges and updates patient accounts; verifies insurance and records statistics; and helps schedule appointments, answer phones, keep providers informed of changes, and inform patients about their benefits. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year of medical office experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Meet the expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care.
- Accurately enter charges on patient accounts, register patients, and update patient accounts.
- Verify insurance and record statistics.
- Assist with scheduling patient appointments and answering phones.
- Keep providers informed of changes.
- Inform patients of their benefits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
