About The Position

To assist in the day-to-day management of the patient care area. This role involves obtaining necessary patient information and assisting providers in medical procedures. The Certified Medical Assistant will also support the RN, LPN, and clinical staff in performing their duties and carrying out essential functions in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent from a department of education accredited program required.
  • Medical Assistant certificate/license.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • Thorough education or training in the basics of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers and proficiency in the use of an electronic health record system required.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to multi-task while working in a high volume work environment required.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of outpatient experience preferred.
  • Phlebotomy drawing certificate preferred.
  • E Clinical Works preferred.
  • Knowledge of web based programs and Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up, clean, and turn-over rooms between patients, following established sanitary protocols.
  • Provide direct patient care based on the policy and procedures of the clinic.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in performing ordered treatments.
  • Prepare patients for procedures or examinations.
  • Take and record height, weight, blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration, Sp02, and patient pain perception.
  • Perform basic lab procedures appropriately and demonstrate ability to perform venipuncture.
  • Obtain laboratory samples and complete paperwork as ordered by the provider.
  • Perform CLIA Waived Testing.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as scheduling of surgical cases, scheduling follow-up appointments, obtaining insurance authorizations, and coordinating patient referrals.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, ensuring understanding.
  • Handle calls efficiently and direct special problem calls to the appropriate person.
  • Under the direction of the nurse or provider in charge, take responsibility for medical supplies and cleaning of medical instruments and equipment.
