About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. This role is part of MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) and is an Employee, Regular worker type. The position is hourly, with a pay grade of Health-22, and scheduled for 40 hours per week. The specific location is Adult Primary Care - Bluffton.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited medical assistant program with six months of CMA/RMA experience required.
  • Must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical record.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
