The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician. This role involves functioning under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager, and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem-solving, all in accordance with hospital, nursing, and unit policy/procedure. Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to, and/or contact with medications and related supplies. The role requires the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent change. Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays, with individual shift rotations and schedules established with the specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work, may be adjusted as necessary to meet clinic requirements.
