About The Position

This role coordinates patient care with the physician, assists with assessments, administers medications per physician orders, and supports administrative duties to enhance patient care. The Certified Medical Assistant will be responsible for a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to ensure smooth patient flow and effective healthcare delivery.

Requirements

  • High school degree required
  • CMA certificate required
  • At least one year of experience in clinical assisting
  • Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
  • Knowledge of practice management and word processing software
  • Good communication skills
  • Neat, professional appearance

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and escorts them to exam rooms.
  • Prepares patients for examinations or treatments and takes vital signs.
  • Assists physicians as requested.
  • Performs Spirometry and other ordered breathing tests.
  • Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  • Provides patient education when appropriate.
  • Completes appropriate documentation in patients' medical records.
  • Calls in prescriptions as ordered by a physician or nurse practitioner.
  • Performs allergy prick testing and/or intradermal testing as ordered by a physician.
  • Administers allergy injections to patients according to a physician-approved schedule.
  • Monitors patients' medical status for adverse reactions after receiving allergy injections.
  • Maintains emergency equipment, including oxygen, code kit, and suction.
  • Answers patient-related telephone calls and responds according to clinical protocol.
  • Follows up to obtain referrals and insurance authorization as requested and needed.
  • Maintains clinical supply stock and medication samples.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other relevant computer software.
  • Attends required training programs such as CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, and OIG.
  • Attends all regular meetings.
  • Performs all other tasks and projects assigned by the Manager.
  • Completes all assigned AP training within designated timeframes.
  • Complies with Allergy Partners and respective hub/department policies and reports policy violations.
