About The Position

The MA will be responsible for the coordination of direct patient care activities and providing clinical support to providers within one of our clinical practices. Duties include: Check in patients, obtaining vital signs & medication reconciliation, patient medical history information, navigating electronic health record system (EPIC), and communicating with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients and physicians. The role will uphold Baptist’s mission and core values that drive service excellence.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required.
  • Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
  • Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.
  • Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
  • Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
  • BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMR System a plus.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
  • Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.
