This Certified Medical Assistant position provides individualized medical care to assigned patients in person, electronically, and via telephone, under the supervision of a licensed health care provider. The role involves assisting in the delivery of health care services to diverse patient populations, maintaining positive relationships with patients and their families, and collaborating with fellow employees to ensure efficient patient flow. The Medical Assistant will support attending physicians, communicate with patients by phone, and document pertinent medical information in the company's data systems. Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Experience working with and maintaining confidential information
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Clinical knowledge
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Completion of a formal medical assistant training program

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized, medical care of assigned patients in person, electronically and via telephone under the supervision of a licensed health care provider.
  • Assist in the delivery of health care services to patients of various backgrounds and age and maintain positive relationships with patients and their families.
  • Work effectively with fellow employees to ensure the efficient flow of patients throughout their visit, providing support to them as well as to the attending physician.
  • Communicate via phone to ensure patient needs are met timely and accurately.
  • Access company's data systems to document pertinent medical information.
  • Support the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
  • Ensure the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
  • Ensure the patient’s questions are answered prior to leaving; prepare room for next appointment.
  • Provide excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person.
  • Complete appropriate documentation including patient registration if necessary.
  • Maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials through personal professional development.
  • Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
  • Maintain and comply with the company's Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct, including the immediate reporting of any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct; patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns.
