About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician. The clinic is open Mon - Fri 8a -5p. Besides rooming and taking vitals, there are injection procedures done in the clinic for pain, and the clinical team also works with surgical scheduling in the hospital for procedures and the ins companies for prior authorizations. On days when there are no providers in house, the clinical team may be floated if the needs are elsewhere.

Requirements

Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association (e.g., American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, The National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association).
One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program.
No work experience required if an individual is a graduate of a medical assistant program.
Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft and e-mail.
Demonstrated experience utilizing strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to lift 20-50 lbs.
Ability to perform prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive).
Ability to demonstrate strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speak clearly, write legibly, reading, and logical thinking.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle multiple priorities.
Ability to adapt to frequent change.

Nice To Haves

Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
Previous experience in an academic health care environment.
Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study such as the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

Responsibilities
