About The Position

Axia Women's Health is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant to join the Brunswick Hills OB/GYN team, with primary work in Hillsborough. The Certified Medical Assistant I is essential in providing high-quality patient care by supporting physicians, providers, and nurses. This role involves assisting with patient care, accurately recording patient information, and educating patients to ensure they can fully benefit from the clinical services offered. The position requires professionalism, adherence to Axia Women's Health patient protocols, and a commitment to a caring, connected, and progressive healthcare experience.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current national certification as a Medical Assistant, such as CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA required.
  • CPR Certification required if performing Office Based Surgeries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients.
  • Demonstrate time management skills by efficiently prioritizing tasks and patients simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Highly adaptable and willing to adjust to changing priorities and conditions.
  • Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and provide coverage at satellite locations, where applicable, as needed.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

  • OB/GYN or Women’s Health experience preferred.
  • eClinicalWorks (EMR) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and acknowledge patients professionally and courteously.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure their comfort.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and complete comprehensive clinical intake.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Perform and document accurate blood pressure, height, weight, and patient temperature.
  • Demonstrate appropriate chaperone technique and documentation.
  • Assist with patient examinations and office-based procedures (e.g., colposcopy, IUD insertions, endometrial biopsies).
  • Administer medications and injections as ordered by providers.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
  • Perform CLIA waived tests per Axia and Care Center Protocols.
  • Perform blood draws.
  • Enter and send medication and test orders via computerized physician order entry (CPOE) per provider instructions.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked.
  • Provide information regarding procedures, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Respond to patient inquiries in person and over the phone.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and follow-up visits.
  • Perform Nonstress Test (NST).
  • Ensure patient safety within clinical settings.
  • Collaborate with physicians, providers, nurses, and other staff for efficient practice operations.
  • Upon successful completion of competency skills training, assist in office-based surgical procedures (e.g., LEEP, operative hysteroscopy, ablations, D&Cs) by preparing the room, ensuring equipment availability, supporting healthcare providers during surgeries, and assisting with post-surgical processes including disinfection.
  • Safely and efficiently assist patients with mobility, including transfers between examination rooms and treatment areas.
  • Ensure compliance with all Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and policies (including HIPAA & OSHA).
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to practice policies, procedures, and protocols.
