Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working as a CMA in healthcare setting.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant License.
  • BLS Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of principles, practices, standards and techniques of a CMA.
  • Phlebotomy, EKG, blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions for a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment use and maintenance.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Medication Management (within scope).
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Customer service focus.

Responsibilities

  • Consult each day with the Clinic team on managing the participant flow for the day.
  • Coordinate with schedulers on follow up appointments.
  • Fax/Scanning of clinical related documents as requested which may include scripts, participant paperwork for specialist appointments, ensuring that all documents are transmitted securely and in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Enter medication history for new enrollees into pharmacy portal.
  • Obtains Immunization history from participant at initial assessments, review of medical records and enters in the EMR.
  • Answer clinic phone and coordinate follow up with clinic staff.
  • Administer Immunizations as prescribed within scope.
  • Effectively communicates with participants, providing instructions, educational materials, and follow-up information as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Rooms participants: Obtains vital signs including weight, escorts participants to exam rooms, and prepares participants to be seen in the clinic.
  • May assist with calling participant with normal lab results as directed by nursing or primary care provider.
  • Perform phlebotomy and collection of lab specimens within scope of practice, as requested by clinic staff.
  • Assist physician and nurses with minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
  • Assists in medical procedures as requested by staff with training and within scope of practice.
  • Responsible for ensuring exam rooms are stocked, monthly check of expirations and disposal as indicated.
  • Complete blood sugar checks, administer medications and perform skin care as prescribed.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness of exam rooms ensuring adherence to infection control standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all lab specimens are labeled and ready for courier to pick up.
  • Maintain inventory of clinic supplies and order supplies as indicated.
  • Act only within the scope of his or her authority to practice.
  • Follow all company Policies and Procedures and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company procedures, results and information about participants, clients or families.
  • Handle potentially infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions and practices standard precautions.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Follows Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Participate in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings.
  • Maintain professional affiliations and any required certifications.
  • Participate in and support Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as required or requested within scope of practice.
