In accordance with the Medical Board of California, this position works under the general supervision of clinic physicians, supported by the clinic nursing supervisor, clinic manager, clinic mid-levels, and RN, in a controlled outpatient care area. The Certified Medical Assistant performs a variety of duties. This position is represented by RCHEA. The role involves providing basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services and procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist, or their designee. The Certified Medical Assistant will cross-train for front office functions and fill in as needed. They are responsible for maintaining and meeting expectations on time for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies. Maintaining confidentiality of staff, patient, and administrative information is crucial. The role also includes maintaining lab and treatment rooms in an orderly manner, performing waived lab tests and internal quality controls, and preparing samples for shipment to the hospital lab. Additionally, the Certified Medical Assistant prepares patients for provider exams, collects baseline information, records it in the patient chart, takes patient vital signs, height, and weight measurements, and records these results. The position also involves willingly performing other duties and innovations as assigned. The Certified Medical Assistant serves patients across all age groups: Infant, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric, demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care and service. This includes the ability to assess data reflective of the patients' status and interpret it relative to age-specific needs.
