About The Position

CODA, Inc. is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join their Withdrawal Management program at the Beaverton Recovery Center. This role involves providing compassionate and competent patient care during detoxification, under the direction of an on-site Registered Nurse and licensed medical professionals. The Certified Medical Assistant will perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and providing patient support, while ensuring a clean and safe environment. This position is crucial for maintaining patient dignity and continuity of care during a critical phase of recovery. CODA, Inc. is a nonprofit provider of substance use disorder treatment, offering evidence-based, person-centered care since 1969.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Minimum two years of experience in ambulatory care, outpatient, primary care, or urgent care environment
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant credential from an accredited CMA program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to acquire within 30 days of hire
  • Crisis prevention training (must be completed within 90 days of hire)
  • Strong patient care and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of the “6 Rights” of medication administration
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems

Nice To Haves

  • May require a valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license depending on job duties
  • Familiarity with SUD withdrawal symptoms and treatment (or ability to gain within 6 months)
  • Ability to work respectfully with individuals with substance use or co-occurring conditions

Responsibilities

  • Take and document vital signs, ECGs, injections, and fingerstick blood tests as ordered.
  • Monitor patients and report changes to RN; provide support with activities of daily living.
  • Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transitions of care.
  • Administer scheduled medications under RN and LMP supervision, following safety protocols.
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment; perform safety checks and assist with laundry and room turnovers.
  • Document all clinical activities in the EHR system.
  • Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies, activate emergency protocols, and administer basic life support if needed.
  • Collaborate with all facility staff to ensure high-quality, continuous care.
  • Perform administrative support tasks including inventory, phone answering, and patient reception.
