About The Position

Loyola Medicine, a member of Trinity Health, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for their Urology clinic at the Loyola Outpatient Center in Maywood. This role is patient-centered and focuses on providing direct care in an ambulatory setting under the supervision of a physician. The CMA will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the medical visit, including direct patient care, registration, scheduling, physician-patient communication, administering medication, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals and ancillary departments. The clinic operates Monday through Friday with flexible scheduling options of 8 or 10-hour shifts, and no weekends, holidays, or call are required. Requirements

  • High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
  • Successful completion of accredited medical assistant program
  • Must possess at least one (1) of the following Medical Assistant credentials within six (6) months of hire: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • CPR/BLS by the American Heart Association – upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Administrative or technical background acquired through completion of 2 - 3 years of college
  • 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
  • Ambulatory experience in primary or specialty setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes a defined skill set consistent with the basic educational program, certification, and relevant work experience to deliver direct care to the patient in the ambulatory setting.
  • Works under the direct supervision/licensure of the physician.
  • Coordinates the pre/intra/post aspects of the medical visit.
  • Provides direct care, registration & scheduling, physician-patient communication and other office-related tasks.
  • Administers medication and works directly with other health care professionals at the site as well as ancillary department and services to coordinate care.
  • Provides care to the patient and support to the physician throughout the entire visit, beginning at the time of arrival at the reception desk, during the visit, and completion of the check out process.
  • Includes history taking, assisting with routine tasks and procedures, telephone messaging, scheduling and visit follow up orders.
  • Works under the supervision of a registered professional nurse when additional skill, assessment and expertise are needed, or in the absence of the physician.
