About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in Radiation Therapy is a full-time, day shift position responsible for performing patient care duties delegated by the Provider or clinical staff. This role involves maintaining close communication and collaboration with the clinical team, managing patient charts, conducting initial and on-treatment assessments, managing medical records, assisting with inpatient and skilled nursing facility patients, and performing data collection, entry, and analysis. The position is located in Surgical Oncology.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant diploma from a medical assistant education program and/or high school diploma
  • National certification from an accredited organization (such as CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA)
  • Current C.P.R. certification issued through American Heart Association
  • Medical or patient care experience in a health center or hospital setting as demonstrated through clinical hours or prior work experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft products and email.
  • Experience with EHR software and EPIC a plus.

  • Excellent IV Therapy skills.

Responsibilities

  • Rooms patients; take and documents vitals
  • Assists with reviewing and updating medications
  • Completes and documents screening assessments
  • Ensures all patient charts are reviewed and complete prior to visit
  • Provides education to new patients
  • Perform IV therapy as needed
  • Monitors on-treatment patient status
  • Participates in weekly chart rounds and facilitates data collection
  • Maintains clinical area compliant with TJC requirements
  • Conducts hand hygiene observations and documents accordingly
