About The Position

Responsible for quality patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider in a clinical practice. Duties include rooming patients, taking vitals and health history, documenting in an electronic medical record, giving injections, and assisting with minor procedures. The role involves ensuring accurate calibrations, cleaning, and maintenance of clinical/lab equipment, maintaining and reviewing patient records, documenting test and exam results, and communicating the plan of care to patients. This position also involves maintaining exam room supplies, instruments, and cleanliness, assisting with scheduling appointments and referrals, screening patients, and providing patient education. The Medical Assistant will observe, record, and report patient conditions, respond to and triage phone calls, call in orders, instruct patients on treatment/medication, monitor and distribute medication, prepare patients for exams and procedures, assist with exams/procedures/treatments, and instruct patients in sample collection. Administers prescribed treatments and tests as ordered by the physician.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program
  • One year of patient care experience preferred
  • Must be certified through American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), National Association of Healthcare Professionals (NAHP), Medical Career Assessments (MedCA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification

  • Assisting with exam, procedures and treatments as necessary
  • Instructing patients in collection of samples and tests
  • Administering prescribed treatments and tests as ordered by the physician
