This role involves navigating patient flow for providers, preparing patient records with relevant data prior to clinic visits, and assisting the Medical/Radiation Oncology Team. The assistant will place patients in exam rooms, help them prepare for exams and procedures, transport patients, and maintain supplies and equipment. The role also includes advocating for patients, resolving concerns, assisting in room turnover, and supporting patients with daily living activities. Communication with nurses, Radiation Therapists, and Providers is key to facilitating patient flow. The assistant will inform patients about necessary preparations, testing, and potential delays. Responsibilities extend to drawing blood, transporting specimens, ensuring proper lab forms are obtained, researching unusual test requests, and maintaining accurate documentation in hospital information systems. The role also requires maintaining clean and sanitary testing and work areas, ordering and restocking supplies, and providing clerical support. Additionally, the assistant will help orient new personnel, maintain professional growth, and ensure patient privacy and confidentiality. Service excellence is expected in all interactions. After obtaining National Medical Assistant certification, the role includes performing medication reconciliation.
