About The Position

Cumberland Family Medical Center (CFMC) is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant/Office Staff member for its New View - Russell location in Russell Springs, KY. This Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) offers a wide range of health and social services and is looking for employees who support their mission of compassionate care, uncompromising service, and clinical excellence. The Certified Medical Assistant will play a key role in supporting providers and patients in primary care, involving patient assessment, assisting with clinical tests and procedures, and ensuring efficient and compassionate care delivery. This role also includes front desk and clerical responsibilities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, a team player, and thrives in a collaborative, community-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Completion of Certified Medical Assistant Program
  • CPR Certification
  • Maintain required continuing education courses

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and escorts them to the exam room
  • Takes and records vital and patient medical information in chart.
  • Prepares patient room for exam
  • Assist Provider in procedures as necessary
  • Completes ordered lab procedures
  • Wound care and suture removal as directed by Provider
  • Administer EKG’s as directed by Provider
  • Communicate results of all procedures and tests to Provider
  • Discharge patient to receptionist
  • Cleans and disinfects exam rooms after use
  • Restocks supplies, linens, equipment, and checks for defects and outdating
  • Consult with and keep supervisor informed of clinic activities, needs, and problems related to patient care
  • Complies with established patient care standards
  • Maintains established clinic policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
  • Maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee interdepartmental and public relations
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars and educational sessions are required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Greet all patients and visitors cheerfully
  • Register patients, help with the completion of necessary forms, and direct to the appropriate staff person, if needed
  • Answer telephone, triage calls, and maintain records of exam
  • Schedule appointments and referrals to other providers
  • File and collect payments
  • Complete encounter form upon arrival and checking (electronic and/or paper)
  • Assist Physician, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Assistants, and Office Manager as requested
  • Maintain neat, clean, and professional work area
  • Maintain established department policies
  • Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
