Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program and national third-party certification such as AMCA, AAMA, AMT, CCMA (NHA certification or NCMA (NCCT certification) is required at the time of hire.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Experience interacting with patients and their families, attention to detail, ability to stay focused, responsible and organized is required.
  • National third-party medical assistant certification such as AMCA, AAMA, AMT, CCMA (NHA certification or NCMA (NCCT certification) is required.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Breath alcohol and Drug testing training provided during department orientation is required within 3 months of hire.
  • Prior experience using an EHR and/or health-related computer software is preferred.
  • Three (3) years of medical assistant work is preferred.
  • Fluency in a language other than English and Medical Interpreting is desirable.
  • Other certifications, based on practice specialty may be preferred.
  • Within the first year the incumbent must attend training for either NIOSH respiratory certification or CAOHC Auditory certification, in year two the individual will need to attend the 2nd training and certification course.
  • Completing both courses successfully in the first 24 months.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the provider and office manager or designee, perform a wide range of administrative and clinical duties within the medical assistant scope of practice.
  • Assist the provider inside and outside the exam room of a medical office setting.
  • Measure vital signs and collect other patient-related data through questionnaires and other tools and enter into electronic health record (EHR).
  • Assist the provider with various treatments/procedures in the examination room and act on orders within scope of practice.
