About The Position

MUSC Rutledge Tower Outpatient Neurology Clinic provides care for a variety of Neurological Disorders. Some examples include Epilepsy, Memory Disorders, Movement Disorders, Neuromuscular and Stroke. The clinical staff assist with triaging and preparing patients for their appointments, assisting with various procedures to include skin biopsies and Botox injections. The clinical staff helps coordinate patient care and treatment plans through telephone calls and messages. Our team works closely together to ensure our patient’s healthcare needs are met, while encouraging our staff to work to their highest potential in every aspect of patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.
  • Must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical record.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Coordinate patient care and treatment plans through telephone calls and messages.
