About The Position

THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION. Must be close to Peoria, IL for training and various meetings. The Certified Medical Assistant will perform delegated clinical and administrative duties consistent with Medical Assistant program education, training, and experience. May work in both the clinical and front office functions of the practice providing clerical support, assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care support activities at the direction of the physician/provider. Performs the duties in accordance with the specific needs of the practice. This position is taking a high volume of inbound calls for medical refills and follow up questions. This position will support primary care offices and pediatrics.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completed a Medical Assistant training program OR Medical Assistant Training Program equivalency: at least 6 months experience in Certified Medical Assistant role OR proof of completion of on-the-job training/education program for certified medical assisting in another healthcare organization.
  • Current certification by ONE of the following approved certifying agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), earning Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential; American Medical Technologists (AMT) or American Allied Health (AAH), earning Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential; National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), earning a National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) credential; National HealthCare Association (NHA), earning Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential; National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), earning a Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) credential.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent
  • Previous experience with electronic health records or phlebotomy.
  • If working in the Rural Health Clinic setting, will be required to have BLS through the American Heart Association.
