About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) is a vital member of the healthcare team, responsible for gathering patient information, screening patients, communicating effectively, and acting upon delegated tasks from providers, registered nurses, or licensed practical nurses within their scope of practice. This role involves a blend of clerical and direct patient care duties. Clerical tasks include greeting patients, managing phone calls, scheduling appointments, and maintaining electronic medical records (EMR). Clinical duties encompass rooming patients, taking medical histories, recording vital signs, preparing examination rooms, explaining procedures, preparing patients for examinations, facilitating patient flow, and assisting physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants during patient encounters.

Requirements

• High School Diploma - OR - GED - OR - Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program
• No experience required
• BLS Certification
• Current Medical Assistant Certification awarded through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), National Association of Healthcare Professionals (NAHP) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA). Medical Assistant Certification other than those listed requires THMG Leadership Approval.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical duties including greeting patients, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and updating electronic medical records (EMR)
• Perform clinical duties including rooming patients, taking medical histories, performing and recording vital signs, preparing exam rooms for procedures, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, facilitating patient flow through the office, and assisting the Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant during examinations
