About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team! This role provides direct and indirect patient care in a clinic setting, assisting patients with clinical and business office tasks. The LPN will communicate effectively with healthcare providers and management regarding patient conditions and treatment responses. Responsibilities may include inventory and ordering, and cross-training in areas such as laboratory assays, reception, and radiographic studies. Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting program accredited by the National HealthCare Association (NHA), Committee on Allied Health Education (CAHEA), or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or any accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • BLS certification within two weeks of hire.
  • Basic computer skills necessary.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to accurately calculate drug dosing and drip rates for IV therapy.
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems for patient flow.
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods and possess a better-than-average attention span.
  • Ability to understand supervisor/manager instructions.
  • Effective communication with administration, managers, and staff.
  • Exceptional customer service and telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to work independently and with groups/teams.
  • Attention to detail and ability to assimilate large amounts of information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse personalities.
  • Ability to handle conflict issues with patients and staff.
  • 6 months required experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Board Certification Preferred.
  • Completion of IV certification course preferred.
  • 2-5 yrs clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and business office assistance to patients in healthcare provider offices and clinics.
  • Provide direct and indirect patient care in a clinic setting.
  • Communicate with providers, nurse manager, and co-workers about changes in patient's clinical condition, including diagnostic results and changes in condition or symptomatology.
  • Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment.
  • Participate in all available training to develop skills and abilities commonly developed through licensure.
  • May have inventory/ordering responsibilities.
  • Expected to cross-train in additional areas of clinic responsibilities, including laboratory rapid assays, reception, and radiographic studies.
  • Perform capillary blood withdrawal, venipuncture, and intradermal/subcutaneous/intramuscular injections.
  • Perform EKGs and respiratory testing.
  • Perform lab tests classified as “waived” under CLIA.
  • Administer medication by unit or single dosage (dosage calculated medications must be verified by a healthcare practitioner).
  • Maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
  • Concentrate for long periods to complete assigned tasks with attention to detail.
  • Listen, read, and remember verbal and written instructions.
  • Understand input from supervisor/manager concerning errors and instructions.
  • Effectively communicate with administration, managers, and staff.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and telephone etiquette.
  • Work independently and with groups/teams.
  • Handle conflict issues with both patients and staff.
