About The Position

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant II to join their team in Weatherford, Tx. This role supports physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment, focusing on efficient patient flow and care during exams and procedures. The position also involves clinic support tasks such as clerical duties, answering phones, and managing physician schedules, while adhering to the US Oncology Compliance Program.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
  • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Some state regulations may require specific certifications in order to work as a Medical Assistant
  • Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Excellent communication skills, 100 % team player, and time management skills, bilingual -Spanish, desire to want learning- open minded and ready for breakthrough treatments.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.
  • May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.
  • Experience performing clinical tasks with minimal supervision (e.g., patient assessment, triage, or medication administration within scope)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage assigned workflows independently (e.g., patient messages, chart prep, follow-ups completed within defined timeframes)
  • Experience supporting clinic operations across multiple sites, including willingness to travel between locations as scheduled
  • Participation in process improvement, quality initiatives, or staff training/precepting activities
  • Proven track record of meeting productivity, documentation, or patient response turnaround standards (e.g., same-day or next-day resolution)
