Certified Medical Assistant I, Full Time- 9am-5pm, Women's Health, Rockaway
About The Position
This is a full-time Certified Medical Assistant I position in Women's Health, located in Rockaway, working from 9am to 5pm. The role involves handling patient intake, updating medical records, administering screenings, recording medical information, conducting patient interviews, taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and administering medication under physician supervision. The Medical Assistant will also assist with clinic visits, ensure verification and recording of clinical data, monitor the environment for accreditation readiness, and evaluate practice schedules. A key aspect of the role is demonstrating knowledge of the certified medical assistant scope of practice, incorporating holistic patient-centered and team-based care, guiding patients through the healthcare system, providing emotional support, and assisting with referrals to specialists.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- National Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
- 1 year of experience in Health Care services.
Responsibilities
- Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
- Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
- Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
- Monitors environment for compliance with continual accreditation readiness and evaluates practice schedule for changes or updates.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the certified medical assistant scope of practice, incorporating elements of holistic patient-centered and team-based care.
- Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
- Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
- Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
