About The Position

Certified Medical Assistants are essential to delivering whole-person care to our Family Medicine patients. We offer a Medical Assistant Clinical Ladder to support growth and development within our connected system! Our Family Medicine Medical Assistants are highly-valued team members with an important voice in this organization. Our MAs, in partnership with clinic staff and operations, created a structured approach to a more effective, efficient work day with appropriate workloads and a clearer path for professional development. In addition, we've also established one of the first-ever MA Apprenticeship programs with an accredited local college to educate and prepare future MAs for success. This Family Medicine Medical Assistant position assumes a supportive role and has responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. You will promote the optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and the delegation of medical services as defined by State Medical Practice Act. Your work will directly contribute to the ongoing health and well-being of individuals and families within our Family Medicine practice. You may perform a variety of clinical tasks as directed by an authorized health care provider in accordance with our Physician Group Scope of Practice, specifically tailored to the needs of a Family Medicine clinic. This includes assisting with patient examinations, administering immunizations, performing basic lab procedures, and providing education on preventative care for patients of all ages. You may also assist with front office duties and scheduling of tests and/or patient appointments. Family Medicine MAs are responsible for accurate chart documentation and medical record maintenance across diverse patient populations. You will also attend/conduct in-service presentations and seminars to facilitate personal and professional growth and demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D., required
  • Medical Assistant certification or registration from approved organization, required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association, required
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following recognized certifying bodies: American Association of Medical Assistant (AAMA), American Medical Technologist (AMT), National Healthcare Association (NHA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
